MANDATORY ON DAY 1
Set up Pinterest account with boards: illustration, design, paper goods, pattern, typography, packaging, branding, color, black and white, letterpress, architecture (this is part of your participation and research grade)

WK 1
Review syllabus, materials/media and discuss. Hand out 1st assignment on greeting card design and writing. Students will use hand skills, Adobe Illustrator and sketchbook. (Bridging illustration and design)

WK 2
One-on-one review of pencil and Adobe Illustrator concept board sketches and written concept for greeting card brand line
(3 designs plus brand name line ID and tag-line.)

WK 3
COMPS DUE - One-on-one review of 1st assignment (greeting card design/stationery)

WK 4
Critique 1st assignment (greeting card designs | brand name line ID and tag-line.) Hand out 2nd assignment. Gift wrap and hang tag using your brand name, tag, ID - we will work on pattern design and illustrate and design 3 gift wrap designs that are cohesive in one soap brand line using hand skills, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and use of a printer.

WK 6
COMPS DUE - One-on-one review of 1st assignment (gift wrap/hang tag)

WK 7
Critique 2nd assignment (gift wrap/hang tag). Hand out 3rd assignment. Wallpaper using your brand name, tag, ID - we will work on patterns as we illustrate and design 3 wallpaper concepts that are cohesive in your brand line using hand skills, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and use of a printer. Wallpaper concepts will be a choice of flora, animals, architecture, cities, or one of each.

COMPS DUE - One-on-one review of 1st assignment (wallpaper/fabric swatch overview)

WK 10
REFINED COMPS DUE - Group critique (wallpaper/fabric swatches approved to send to spoonflower)
